2018.11.15 (thu) – 11.26 (mon)

The atelier had the same scents created by the two, when I paid a visit after a long absence. Dogs and cats run around in the yard, and schools of killifish swim in their large vase. Their adorable little yard connects to a mountain-side, where the trees are starting to change colors. There I could spot some white cotton mallows and small mums swinging in the wind. Their vessels look comfortably worn in; the coffee pot has turned coffee color, the pot has turned vermilion. Every-day things come really alive when they are used often and well. In the morning sunlight, some white oval plates and cups feel nice. For lunch, one can do with a quick meal in a grey bowl. And when the cold hits at night a big hot pot will be the perfect thing.

After relocating to Mashiko, they had started to create with their buddies. They have fun, and keep great balance between producing their individual work and custom jobs. We all have our own lives and times. It will be our greatest joy to see these vessels welcomed into your lives like a good old friend, and be used as if there are some conversations going on back and forth. Mr. and Mrs. Gunji and Gunji Kiln. We will be receiving their red-hot delivery from that land. Yes, everything comes from this region, this earth.
